BIG FILM

installation, experimentalfilm, archives

Format: plexiglass sculptures & video projection
Duration:
Year: 2012

BIG FILM grew out of my work with 16mm film decay and the exhilarating feeling of “letting go” that this technique provided me. I blew up tiny 16mm frames from my film Collaboration with the Earth, creating 8” x 10” images printed on clear transparency. I then hung ladders of plexiglass from the ceiling to display the blowups. projected on a nearby wall, allowing viewers to experience the same time represented in two different systems. Making what was once miniscule massive, BIG FILM made public my private encounters with my collaborators: dirt, worms, water, and other earthly forces.
