16mm hand-processed film transferred to video // 5 minutes // 2020
co-directed with John Frentress
My husband, the talented and prolific artist/painter John Frentress and I created this film during our residency at Sou’wester Arts Week in Seaview, Washington, in the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic. In less than one week, we shot three rolls of 16mm film, processed it by hand in the bathroom of our trailer, painted the surface of the film, scratched it with sand, and eventually transferred it to video to create a layered experience. Inspired by Carolee Schneemann’s Fuses, our film captures aspects of our intimate life together.
