The Hills Are Alive detailHeidi McBride, curator and art dealer, commissioned me to create two Flat Films to be installed in two group housing facilities in the Portland area. The Hills Are Alive uses appropriated frames from The Sound of Music. As the piece is situated at senior living center, I thought it best to reference a film the residents might know and love, and I made the individual frames larger. Portland Summer 2017 is installed in a centrally located apartment building, so I created a piece using summery images from the surrounding area, including the nearby Willamette River, Hawthorne Bridge, and a trendy barber shop.
